What you told us in the survey

The September 2025 moving in feedback survey opened on the 28 September and closed on the 3 November, thank you to all of you who responded. We heard from 24% of you who moved into halls on the 13th and 14th September, that's over 600 residents. What you told us is in the survey is below:

On Presentation of facilities and locating your hall:

  • 94% thought the campus looked excellent or good
  • 93% thought the ease of finding your hall was excellent or good
  • 84% thought your bedroom condition was excellent or good on arrival
  • 82% thought your flat kitchen condition was excellent or good on arrival

Looking at Residential Services aspects of your moving in experience:

  • 83% thought the welcome events provided were excellent or good
  • 85% thought the online 'welcome' (induction) was excellent or good
  • 78% thought the opportunities to meet your flatmates pre and post arrival were excellent or good
  • 85% thought the service provided by Residences Reception or the Reception in your hall was excellent or good

How should we communicate with you?

  • A massive 82% stated they preferred to receive communications by email, with face to face the second highest method at 32%
  • 74% thought the Unibuddy app was excellent or good, as an opportunity to meet and connect with others moving into halls

What do the results tell us?

  • We need to look at ensuring all of you arriving receive a similar welcome - different courses can start earlier than the main moving in weekend
  • We should continue working hard to prepare rooms, complete maintenance and maintain and improve the high standards already in place to ensure rooms and kitchens are ready for you when you arrive
  • You'd like to have more staff around / available to help you with directions and general queries
  • You'd like to receive more directional information in advance of arrival and have more directional signage when your arrive
  • You'd like the welcome events to be more spread out as it's hard to attend them with all the other events during Welcome Week
  • You'd like more opportunities to meet your flatmates / hallmates pre and post arrival through events and activities

What did you say?

'Maybe just having more people to answer questions for new students, I know it gets backed up, but sometimes hard to seek out information'
'Have more signs indicating what is where'
'In case of visible repair needs in the room, it would be better to complete these before arrival'
'Really appreciated the mug, chocolate bar and information leaflets in the room upon arrival'
'To be honest I think you guys did a good job so far. The move-in process was very organised.....There have been plenty of events that make it easy to get involved, so my time has felt full and well supported'
