Black History Month Events Near You

Posted 1 day ago

Don't miss out!

It's Black History Month, and at Residential Life, we will always try to provide you with opportunities to learn about black culture and history.

We do this by organising events to promote awareness and showcase content on our social media platforms.

However, we know that there is so much more to discover and discuss, that's why we are encouraging you to attend events and initiatives organised by the Student Union, University and external organisations.

To help you with this, I've hand-picked three upcoming events in the Mile End area that you may want to attend and find interesting.

The costs of these three events vary, with two being free and one requiring an entry fee. So just keep that in mind when deciding which event you would like to attend!

1. Windrush and The NHS

This event may be quite relevant for our medics and dentists, as well as anyone with an interest in healthcare or the NHS. The event will explore the impact of Jamaican women (who came over to the UK during the Windrush generation) on the NHS after the World War. Ruby Hall, a Jamaican Nurse will be sharing her story and experience.

Dates📅: Saturday 26 October

Time⌛: 12:30 – 1:15pm

Location🔴: London Museum Docklands, West India Quay, E14 4AL (27 mins from the Mile End Campus)
