Albert Stern House

The bedroom

Everything was fine. A bit smaller than my room at home. The view to the cemetery was awesome.

What size was the bed? Single

Did you have an ensuite? No

What was the shared bathroom like?

It included a toilet, sink, mirror and the shower. I bought toilet roll and cleaning products (bleach and deodorising spray).

The kitchen

How many people lived in your flat? 6

It was spacious. There was a table, microwave, kettle, toaster and two fridges.

Laundry

I used the laundry room at Ifor Evans Place.

Social spaces

There are no social spaces inside of the building.

Drapers is less than 5 minutes' walking distance away. It was usually quiet (with exception of salsa classes and Diwali) and spacious. Students used this space to drink, sing and dance.

Where did you and your flatmates usually hang out?

I didn't. I'm not a socialable person.

Location

Albert Stern House is located at the Mile End campus.

What were the transport links like?

It is really accessible to central London and the main campus. It's almost right outside of Stepney Green tube station. I always walked to central London, but I assume that it takes around 15 min to get there.

What were the best parts of your hall's location?

Well, campus was close, as well as supermarkets. I could reach anywhere within 30 min or less if I use the bus or tube. Also the cemetery was great, it's really quiet and there are cats and foxes frequently there.

What were the worst parts of your hall's location?

I definitely wasn't missing the big city experience: every time I went out I was there. Sometimes I was awoken by the sounds of this vibrant big city.

Community

There was an ASH community, but honestly I never became part of it. I prefer to be in quiet places.

In conclusion...

Looking back on my time in this hall, I remember a lot of funny memories! It was awesome.
