Support The Friends of the Royal London Hospital

On Sunday 12 July, the Saucony London 10k will be returning to the streets of London and The Friends of the Royal London Hospital (established in 1979) have a number of spaces available for runners to help raise money for their amazing charity! It has links to Queen Mary's Medical and Dental students who complete some of their course at the Royal London Hospital.

The Friends are interested in hearing from any medical or dental students who would love to run for them in the event to raise money to continue their work in supporting the Royal London Hospital and its staff and patients.

Some of the ways the charity supports the hospital are by:

  • Improving amenities for hospital patients and staff
  • Awarding grants for medical and non-medical equipment - not otherwise supplied by the NHS
  • Provision of a 'shop' trolley service around the hospital wards; supplying toiletries, confectionery, soft drinks and other items to patients and staff - due to the lack of an onsite shop
  • Volunteers also make time to chat with patients, should they wish
  • Music recitals - presented by volunteer musicians - using the public piano in the foyer of the main hospital or direct to patients on the ward

If you would like to get involved and run for the friends, you can contact Richard Gardner, Treasurer of the Friends using 07732 727750 or by clicking here to email, further information is also below and can be downloaded.
