Posted 1 day ago

Preparing for Entering the UK Labour Market

Throughout this Transition to Work programme, which is designed to prepare international students and eligible graduates for the UK labour market, each theme (Job Searching, CV/Cover Letter/Interview Technique, and Skilled Worker Visa mapping) will run once online and once in-person. You can attend either of these, or both if you would like to consolidate the learning and ask questions in-person. Please note that in-person workshops have a capacity of 40, so please ensure you attend if you sign up to ensure other students don’t miss out on a space.

Online sessions will be a 1-hour how-to guide with information you can learn and take away with you. In-person sessions will be longer and include time for practical support from the Careers Consultant or International Student Adviser. We will be running an online and in-person session over Semester B on each the following themes:

Job Searching in the UK - understand recruitment timelines, explore job options and know the required skills

Graduate Route Visa Session - understand application requirements, terms and conditions and Q&A

CVs, Cover Letters, and Interview Technique - articulate your skills, build commercial awareness, understand how to pitch yourself and predict interview questions

Navigating Your Right to Work in the UKHear detailed guidance about your work rights at different stages of your course, and how you can demonstrate and explain your work rights to employers.
