Hello from your Residential Life Team!

Making sure all students in Queen Mary Halls have the best time, stay safe and feel supported, the Residential Life Team are on hand.

So you can get to know a little more about the team behind the scenes of your stay at QM halls, they have answered a few questions below. If you happen to pass them on campus or see them at events, do say hello!

Name: Kimberly Eyre

Time Spent at QM: 10 years as a member of staff

Describe Yourself in 3 Words: Welcomes new ideas

Favourite Thing to Do in East London / London: Play with my dog Rodeo at Victoria Park

What advice would you give first-year students? Gain as many new experiences and perspectives as you can by having the courage to perform ineptly as you learn and the curiosity to listen actively and open-mindedly to other people.

Describe Yourself in 3 Words: Creative coffee enthusiast

Favourite Thing to Do in East London / London: Enjoying the parks on a sunny day- especially London Fields and Victoria Park (both are gems in East!). I also love the theatre, so I enjoy going to both major musicals and small, independent plays.

What advice would you give first-year students? First year is the perfect time to explore your new environment, new hobbies, and living alone for the first time. Take advantage of any opportunities that may come your way, whether within the university or outside. And most importantly, have fun!

What advice would you give first-year students? Don’t be afraid of trying out new things and Be yourself!

Favourite Thing to Do in East London / London: Watch shows on the West End.

What advice would you give first-year students? Meet as many people as possible. It may feel daunting at first, but remember that everybody is just as new to Queen Mary as you are! Don't be afraid to chat to your neighbours and classmates, and join any club that sparks your interest. Soon enough you'll be creating bonds that will last a lifetime.

Favourite Thing to Do in East London / London: A walk around the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park followed by drinks and food by the canal at Here East.

What advice would you give first-year students? You’re at the start of an amazing journey, take your time, everyone is in the same boat and make sure to ask if you’re not sure about anything – we are all here to support you in this adventure!
