What it's like to live in Beaumont Court

The experience of a real Queen Mary student
a large brick building

Beaumont Court

The bedroom

Perfectly sized room! Good under the bed storage and a huge desk. The wardrobe was a fair size too. Noise was kept to a minimum as I wasn’t near any main roads.

What size was the bed? Single

Did you have an ensuite?

Yes. The bathroom was not too bad - for a student accommodation it’s pretty good. As long as you keep it clean and tidy there isn’t much to complain about!

The kitchen

How many people lived in your flat? 6

Everything you would need is in the kitchen! Table, hoover, microwave and toaster were all there when we moved in. Everyone had a double cupboard which was plenty of space and we had 2 fridges between the 6 of us.

Laundry

There was not a laundry room in the building. The laundry room was in the France House building which is opposite Beaumont Court.

Social spaces

There are no social spaces inside of the building.

Where did you and your flatmates usually hang out?

My kitchen! The kitchens are quite big and spacious. I’d always let my flatmates know in advance if I was having a friend over.

Location

Beaumont Court is located at the Mile End campus.

What were the transport links like?

Pretty good! Mile End station was less than a 10min walk away and has the central line, takes about 20 minutes to get into central London. Pretty convenient!

What were the best parts of your hall's location?

I’m glad I stayed in student accommodation first year. I got to experience London for the first time which was great. The residences team were very helpful in solving anything that did come up too.

What were the worst parts of your hall's location?

There were no cons for me. I would stay again if I could!

Community

The community around Beaumont Court was very friendly. Although we didn’t hang out outside of the flat, when we would see each other it was always good vibes.

In conclusion...

When I look back on my time in my hall, I feel happy and I hold onto some great memories from my time there :)
