Greenwich and The Docklands International Festival 2024

Another one for all the art lovers out there! The Greenwich and The Docklands International Festival 2024 involves a range of activities that aim to encompass different forms of art and creative media, with theatre shows, light shows and art installations, the festival offers something for everyone to enjoy. The work on offer, and the demonstrations, come from both renowned UK and international artists as well as small businesses aiming to show off their creative 

The festival is running from 23 August 2024 to 8 September 2024 and is free for everyone to enjoy.

Notting Hill Carnival

Notting Hill Carnival takes place every year and offers a vibrant and colourful carnival experience with a range of acts performing in the carnival procession.

As well as the main carnival street party, there are also a range of stalls selling food and other goods to add that little extra joy to the carnival spirit.

The carnival parade is so popular that up to 50,000 individuals take part each year and it is a true celebration of everything Caribbean.

The carnival is free to watch and can be accessed by tube to Notting Hill. It takes place on the last weekend of August including during the summer bank holiday.

Totally Thames 2024

A slightly different event, this one is suited to everyone but particularly the history lovers! Totally Thames is an exhibition of different art and cultural activities inspired by the River Thames that aims to highlight and celebrate its role in shaping London.

Throughout the month of September, there will be a range of activities to join in with and events taking place. While the official list of events is yet to be released, highlights of previous years have included installations by the Tate Modern along the banks of the river, mudlarking exhibitions and light shows, as well as promoting the importance of sustainability along the Thames.

Most of the events taking place are in aid of Totally Thames and are free. Donations to the River Trust are welcomed to allow for the event to continue running and support their work in maintaining the culture and importance of the River.

The Proms

If classical music is more up your street, The Proms, short for the Promenade Concerts, is a summer music festival held in London that celebrates British culture and classical music. It began in 1895 with the festival hosted at the Royal Albert Hall, and continues to feature a series of daily concerts with a wide range of orchestras, conductors, and soloists from around the world. The Proms are known for their informal "promming" tradition, where attendees can stand in the arena for a more immersive experience.
