Welcome Back to Advice & Counselling's “Free Fun in London”

Hey QM explorers! We’re back with the second edition of “Free Fun in London,” bringing you the best free activities to enjoy this March. With the hope of leaving the cold weather behind, we’re excited to include more outdoor activities in this edition.

Art & culture

  • Find your next musical obsession with Futuretense at the Southbank Centre, where you can discover up-and-coming artists for free. Or join one of the Open Doors events whether you’re into comedy, dancing, or creative encounters. The Southbank Centre offers loads of free activities for everyone to enjoy every month!
  • For an affordable theatre experience in London, check out our list of the best ways to see West End shows without spending a fortune.

Outdoor Activities 

  • The Head of the River Race (HOTRR) an exciting annual rowing event taking place on 22 March 2025 the race covers the same course as the famous Oxford V Cambridge boat race, but the other way around. It’s a great way to enjoy the riverside and cheer on the teams.
  • Spring is here, and so are the beautiful Cherry Blossoms! Check out the list of parks around London for stunning views and perfect Instagram shots.

Educational

  • Gresham College has been providing free public lectures since 1597. Whether you’re looking to expand your knowledge or support your studies, these lectures are delivered by some of the world’s leading academics and experts, providing high quality content at no cost.

Special Events

  • Celebrate Irish culture with a lively parade, music, dance, and food. St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival It’s a fun-filled day for everyone. Expect a green multitude in the heart of the City of London, the parade will start at Hyde Park and end at Whitehall. Trafalgar Square will host the main festival activities. 16 March 2025.

Hidden Gems

  • Head to the viewing platform on the 8th floor of the Oxo Tower. Located on the South Bank, this hidden gem offers panoramic views of the River Thames, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and the Millennium Bridge. Simply take the lift up to the 8th floor, and you’ll find the entrance to the public viewing platform.
