Disposing of, donating and reycling your items

Are you in a whirlwind of preparing to move out, will you miss the window to donate, or do the Reuse scheme donation dates not work for you? Fear not! There are plenty of other ways you can donate your items today...

Give away platforms

You can post your items on free give-away platforms to be collected:

Freecycle

Freegle

Duvets and Pillows

Unfortunately, whilst we encourage you to give away duvets and pillows via the above platforms, duvets and pillows are not widely recycled. Instead, you should dispose of it in your household waste bin, or at your local recycling center.

We are currently not aware of charities accepting duvets and pillows.

Recycling search

London Recycles is a great website to find out about all your recycling needs. This is a great way to find out about recycling electronics or other items you might not be sure about.

You can:

Find your local recycling centre

Find out what to do with a certain item using their search tool

Find out about local recycling services offered

Clothes, shoes and bags

Several charities and organizations will offer free collection or postage of clean, wearable clothes:

Collect my clothes

Traid - Free Clothes Collection

Collection4Clothes

British Heart Foundation – free postage of items

Sell your clothes if you have time on any of the below platforms:

Vinted

Preloved

DePop

If you have any questions or you can’t see a way to recycle, donate or dispose of your item, please get in touch with our sustainability team at: sustainability@qmul.ac.uk, who will do their best to help.
