The October Energy-Saving Campaign

Good for our pockets and the planet!

October marked the launch of our university-wide energy-saving campaign! We're working to increase awareness and visibility around the sustainable use of energy and spotlight energy-saving measures across the university.

We all have a part to play in reducing our energy use, it's good for our pockets and the planet!

This week hear top tips and myth-busters to help reduce our energy consumption, such as:

Myth: Turning computers off at night doesn’t save much energy.

Fact: Turning off computers at night can save a significant amount of energy – switching off a single computer could save up to £50 a year at a large university. Imagine if we multiply this across the thousands of machines at Queen Mary!

Take action now and join our "Blackout" Challenge on Friday, 25 October from 3-5pm.

Help us tackle energy waste by turning off non-essential equipment in the Engineering Building. In doing so, we'll be able to measure baseline energy use, identify areas for improvement, and influence behaviour change. Sign up via SU Volunteering.
