There are tons of things to do at university that don't require drinking, and they'll probably make you feel better the next day, too!
Attend an event
There are plenty of events (online and in-person) that are organised by the University. You can check what's happening on campus on the Residential Life website for the latest events, quizzes and talks for you to get your teeth into.
Join a society
From football to artificial intelligence and robotics, there will be a society that right up your street. Check out all the societies available, if you're logged in you can join a society there and then! Societies are a great way to find friends with similar interests to go so make sure you get involved.
Sober Socials
You might not have known that Sober Socials were a thing, but you're in luck. The Sober Socials Society is a newly-affiliated group at QMUL who regularly hold events which involve absolutely zero booze. For now, all their events are online, but as soon as possible these events will return to campus.
Have a movie night with you flatmates
Ditch the hangover and spend a night in with your flat family. Grab your favourite snacks, soft drinks and blankets, turn off all the lights and pick out some classics for a movie marathon. Even if your flatmates do drink they'll be thankful for a night off.
Cook a delicious meal
If you love your food, why not try cooking some adventurous, but rewarding dishes? If you're living with flatmates, a fun idea to try is a "come dine with me" style event. You each take it in turn to cook a 3-course meal, decide on some party games and then you secretly score the host at the end of the night!
Go for a run
No alcohol means no excuse for having a lie-in. Have a go at making some more time in the morning for a run. You don't have to go far but a morning run gives you a great lease for life and you'll probably find you'll be starting the day with a spring in your step too.
Games night
Everybody loves a games night, and sometimes they can even get a bit heated when everyone's competitive side comes out. So if you've got any board games lying around the flat, or want to borrow one from reception, they're always a good laugh. Alternatively, you can connect with your friends online and set up quizzes on zoom, or you can even have a go at Pictionary!
Group exercise
Somethings you may enjoy doing on your own, like going for a jog to clear your head in the morning, but why not try a group activity. You could attend a fitness class that QMUL have put on, or you could even host your own in the local park - Victoria Park or Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
