New Security Officers at all our campuses

By QMHalls 21 Oct 2021

Have you noticed more Security Officers recently?

You may have noticed that we have more Security Officers on patrol around the campus. This follows the recruitment of more officers to support residents and the wider campus communities with more visibility on the ground.

For residents, this means you will see more frequent patrols in and around our halls, a quicker response to your enquiries and reports, as well as tighter control measures at entry gates in the evening where student IDs are verified.

You might think that the Security Officers are just there to stop parties, enforce non-smoking rules and deal with noise issues, but their primary role is to create and maintain a safe, secure, and pleasant environment for everybody across our campuses.

Everything security officers do is in the best interest of all residents - interventions at parties are to stop noise complaints, not to stop the fun, and ID checks are to keep unwanted people away so everybody can feel secure whilst on Queen Mary campuses. Should a student have too many drinks, they are on hand to offer a proactive and caring response to prevent harm or disciplinary consequences.

Please do take a moment to welcome the new Security Officers when you see them patrolling your accommodation by having a chat or giving them a friendly smile or wave. They are there to make your student experience the safest it can be!
